Womens Tops

We have always stated that companies that structure their sales around cheap clothing have never considered the impact to fellow humans regardless from which country the reside.

How can it be ethical to have the lowest retail prices available to consumers and then state that they are a fair trade company?

Primark have recently been given bad publicity with the apparent use of child labour on their products.. but were the manufacturers forced into this through a price driven ethos? or just greed.. Who knows but companies who promote themselves on price surely must be made accountable.

We all have our own thoughts but the consumer has to realise that although price is important they do have a choice. And that choice given that the retail industry is very competitive will ultimately have an impact on another individual.

It would be deemed as illegal to produce products in this country with the use of child labour, let alone the conditions which they are being produced.

I was reading an Fashion article today about “6 essential items every girl should have in their wardrobe”.. the list included 1 little black , 1 pair of two-inch, neutral-coloured heels, 1 good bra, 1 winter coat, 1 practical bag and wait for it, yes it’s sunscreen. Now if only it was that easy for us girls, we have different moods and many places we want to visit, this is before we worry about the weather or the need for sunscreen.  starts with needing at least 2-3 dresses including that little black dress we can’t be seen in the same dress every time we go out can we!! That’s just not on… We also need different outfits and items to mix and match whether its a pair of jeans or trousers we need tops to go with it, but again this is different as we have day and night to dress for. We all have those fat days that we just want something comfortable to wear, especially at certain times of the month that’s just nature. As for shoes god knows what we would do if we could only have one pair do we choose sexy or comfy? High heels work perfectly for a night out to compliment our dress or outfit but are impractical when we are shopping yet those ugg boots everyone loves would look damn right silly with a long dress. As for a pair of 2 inch neutral -coloured heeled shoes this neither fits sexy or practical. So we need at least 2 pairs of shoes.A good bra should be in every girls wardrobe but what colour? strapless or supportive? lacy or plain, and matching knickers does help with keeping the man happy doesnt it !! I think we should have a range that suits what we wear, you can hardly wear a white bra with a little black dress and natural shoes can you, we can start visualising the author of the said article now….What’s next oh yes a  so when summer comes and the evenings get a little chilly on our nights out or we want to go shopping this July when its raining we must throw on a nice thick heavy winter coat. No need for a ladies jacket then?We all need a practical bag as the article rightly says but if you are anything like me you will need one for your kitchen sink as my chap often refers to it, but this is great for when i’m out all day, can you imagine taking it out in your black dress, neutral 2″ heels, white bra and winter coat? surly something dressy would be required.Lastly sunscreen …. ??? I much prefer perfume on my nights out…   So the moral of this story is….. I really want to know what type of person writes an article about 6 essential items a woman must have… can You identify with her in this description below…Very white lady in a , No kickers, with good fitting bra, Big Bag with 2″ neutral shoes, Wears a Big thick winter coat to hide what she wears, Sweats a lot in warm weather and smells of sunscreen lotion.

Christmas chic and how to look good.

WWW.J-LOU.COMCHRISTMAS PARTY FASHION

For a nice social family get together whether it be for lunch/dinner try some slouchy trousers and a satin or feminine chiffon blouse with flat shoes.  This is the season to be jolly and party but if you do not look after your feet you will not keep up with the festivities.

Fancy a few drinks out with your friends and work colleagues then maybe a shift dress worn over a black polo neck, to add a contemporary look to this try a patent leather belt, one that can be loosened if eating.  To jazz it up a little if you know you are going to be out for the evening partying wear something with sequins, which simmer and bring garments to life or try a strapless sweetheart neckline, great for getting noticed and brings that bit of spice into your life.

Night on the town or your big Christmas Eve works party then try a statement dress which is a slightly loose fit to allow for movement, so you can let your hair down and dance the night away, remember you are drinking so don’t go for killer heels but a little bit of height does elongate your calf muscles and can add a more elegant look to your legs, especially if you have a short mini dress on, but be glamorous, not gangly.

You could also try opaque black tights to give your legs sheen, a godsend for us lily whites out there worn with a tunic dress to give an edgy urban vibe.

To keep your chic through out the day try knitwear with a metallic thread woven into the garment, a nice soft knit which is touchy feely, a tunic dress or long jumper finished of with a belt to camouflage the tummy, (after all they will chocolates galore temping you), opaque black tights or shiny calf length leggings and patent heels to top the look of.

The Christmas period is full with rich colours so try something in deep purple, sapphire blue or a deep burgundy or claret shade.  Remember to exfoliate and get glowing skin, especially if you are going to wear a revealing dress, do this a few days before the big day and gradually build up a light tan prior to your event and not the night before as this could have streaky consequences.

Avoid getting your Christmas tinsel in a twist or making a bauble blunder.

While it is daylight is not a good idea to have your cleavage on show or wear lurex during the day.  Tan tights are a no no as well, keep to the opaque black colour and you can not go wrong.

Accessories, the biggest faux pas is wearing your day bag with your evening outfit, indulge in a little handbag happiness and adorn your arm with a diamante-encrusted clutch bag or maybe a deep shaded velvet wrist bag, for a more rock chick vibe a dome studded bag can accomplish this.

Do not forget jewellery for this season I personally prefer a little sparkle so simple and not over encrusted with diamonds.   If you are wearing more classic cut outfits and block colours then contrasting bangles can be worn to shake things up a little or even a good nail vanish can add those finishing touches to you style.

For a more casual Christmas look try throwing a sexy blazer or fabulous biker jacket over a party frock, very in this season.  If it is more of a showstopper look that you want to achieve then bright pink is the colour to paint the town this year, hot of the catwalks just add smooth charcoal grey hosiery and a pair of patent heels and you are there.

Thought of the day, leg warmers are not friends, lock them up and keep them for the days that you are not going to open your curtains.

New Womens Fashion

designer brands

This article looks at the fascination of how people view branded fashion.
Here you can read about the benefits and the myths and the truth.

So you’re stuck on your Fashion labels what do these represent.

Labels are identification to the makers brand, the brand is a mark of quality & design starting the best Designer brands these will be the brands that Spend a fortune on Catwalk shows, Advertising, they will put extra effort into the product with use of more expensive materials, details, trims, workmanship & of course that element of eccentric talent to make them stand out from the other designers.
You will always pay a premium for their Branding which incur vast advertising costs and the over extravagance. There is obviously the snob value to wearing these products, showing social standing ie. Celebrities or royalty.
Most peoples perceptions of other branded fashion is on a downward scale according to price and what’s in !!
This always amazes me with fake branded clothing what is it trying to achieve, having gucci written on a basic T shirt defeats
the point of Fashion, the name may be fashionable but the garment isn’t, it’s basic.

What is the label without the style?

With all brands they make styles that suit a type of person and sometimes styles don’t come out as well as they hope,
these styles usually find themselves into the SALE rail to clear, but again people buy them because they think they have a bargain but if the styles looks bad then that’s the look people buy at a cheap price, yes it may be “whatever” brand the label is firmly inside the garment. So buying branded clothing really has to be done with care, Remember it has to suit you first or it will be designer
Brand that makes your wardrobe look cool…

Are the big names the best?

In my opinion as a designer, Retailer, and woman involved with the fashion industry.
I have seen many companies and designers out their that have the creative skills but without the massive advertising campaigns
that come up with stunning designs for Womens fashion that although not recognised these garments rival many better known
brands. The style at the end of the day is the most important thing where the garment will work with your figure and show
it off with maximum effect. If you look good and what you wear suits you this will win hands down every time with getting
recognition in a positive way.

Tips to knowing garment quality.

Materials are the first indication, people aren’t aware that even fabrics such as cotton’s or viscose come in different grades, viscose for example if it is cheap this is thin and if used without double lining will be transparent, hardly good for girls, a good grade will always cover with one single skin, this is the same with man made fibre materials. The use of chiffon or silk instead of man made mesh are also good indications. The finishing and defect’s will always give away if an item is poor, but the one thing most people do not consider is the fitting, a good fitting top takes a lot of work as it has to be adjusted many times during
the sampling stage, some companies look for hanger appeal some companies put their efforts into fit.

High-street Brand Fashion.

Bringing fashion to the masses, these usually will be conservatively cut to appeal to a wider audience, they will be massed produced of acceptable Quality. Design and manufacture will be done by others, these stores simply buy designs in bulk.
Often selling copies of Boutique fashion from small designers.

Alternatives.

You can find small outlets out there that bring unusual fashion these usually support the smaller designers that need the most help, the irony of this is that those in these positions often have the most passion, Funding usually only comes through consistently bringing in new designs. Its worth using these outlets as they are a real alternative to the main (Big Business) brands, consider this if these smaller companies are driven
out then consumer choice diminishes.

Guide to buying Womens clothing online.

Today’s busy women are using online companies to purchase their clothing, as it is easy and fun way to fit shopping in around the a girls ever increasing workload here is a guide and helpful tips to help you avoid getting it wrong and how you can enjoy safe online shopping.

Q. Is online shopping more expensive than the high street?
 A. It is usual for online companies to charge for postage onto of the cost of an item. But remember when you go shopping in the high street there are additional costs which people often fail to see. Firstly you have the cost of return travel to a shopping mall or city centre, possibly parking, its likely when you are there you will also have refreshments.
This alone could set you back a minimum of £10 but probably more likely in the region of £20 before you start purchasing what you went there for in the first place.

Q. I like to try clothes on before I buy them.

 A
. This is the most common comment about buying clothing on-line & there are advantages and disadvantages to both shopping online and in the high street. In shops the clothing is usually
on hangers and we have no idea how good or bad they look until we try them on, whereas on-line clothing will usually be modelled so that you can see the cut of the garment and an idea of how it will fit. You also get a description & explanation about fabrics online also.

Q. What Clothing sites should I use or trust?

A. Reputation and experience are key factors to whether your experience will good or bad. Sites that have been running for some time will have ironed out the pitfalls and will handle your
purchases with ease. Check out the website about us page this usually gives an indication. Although you are shopping online good site will also offer Telephone support and will clearly
show their number throughout the site. If it’s hard to get help with orders imagine how hard it is to get help if you have a problem. Also a good indication is how much effort has been put into images.

Q.  What if I get the wrong size?

A. Buy yourself a fabric tape measure, know your exact size.
Good sites will offer you alternative indications i.e. Bust sizes, hip sizes to help you. Internet shopping for fashion is best when you get it right first time. It’s also an idea to not to always take high street sizes for gospel as some stores now cut larger for feel good factor i.e. Next.

Here is an example of a size chart from www.j-lou.com

womens clothing chart

Q. Can I order, try them on, and return?

A. Most websites will be happy with this as long as the customer keeps some of the order and return them the way they received them. Note: Customers should understand that when ordering online they start a chain reaction of costs which involve processing the order to selecting and checking the garments
to packaging and posting. Usually if the whole order is returned these costs will be charged.

Q.  I am worried about using my Debit/credit card online.

A. It’s right that you should always be cautious about using cards online. Always use a secure site when processing your order, most website’s will transfer you to a secure site for you to add your card details, this is indicated by the secure lock at the bottom of the screen.

Q. What about Delivery times.

A. This varies greatly from site to site, again this is where the communication between yourself and the website you intend to use comes in, contact them ( this is where a landline Tel: number helps greatly, always ask if in doubt is the best advise )

If you are buying Womens fashion online and once you have established which shops you would like to use will save you lots of time and allows you to use your free time to pursue other interests you may have. Other advantages include larger choice and it has to be said where ever you may live its true that the town and city centres all look the same, the same shops in different towns. Shopping online for ladies clothing also has the benefit that you will find something different.
