The Clothes Show Live 2006

If you have been watching our blogs about the clothes show, The Haymarket or organisers got our products totally wrong and sold us a dud pitch in a poor area, and even though this was their mistake they are not prepared to do anything about it.

We accept that people make mistakes but when we were told they made mistakes and still will not amend them this is very poor, these article’s are here to help other designers that feel if they work hard enough that to tread with care if they feel the clothes show will enhance their reputations.

Surely the clothes show is about promoting ranges of clothing from the biggest to the smallest designers and although everything has to be done for profit so that events such as this happen again, shouldn’t it be helping grass root brands to become established for the benefit of the customer….

The fact is the the clothes show is purely for the greed of the organisers, greed in what it charges its customers and its exhibitors. When talking to many exhibitors it seems that the show has been in decline for years and each year revenues go down, and tickets and stands keep rising, coincidence or is it the organisers are just fleecing everyone for what they can get…

It eventually will happen where the exhibitors will feel its not worth it and believe me its not worth the time especially when you are placed in a poor area…. sold as an excellent stand….. highly recommended for our product….

Its a shame because if the show was really meant for the promotion of the clothing brands and about Fashion styles the organisers would surely do very well from endorsements and advertising along side the tv shows.

But it seems the Haymarket wants it all !!!! whilst us people who really are passionate about clothing and what it does for you can be sure they want to rip the shirt from your back…..

I received and email today from the clothes show organisers that our complaints are being brought to the attention of the directors. I hope they see sense and that ammends can be made.

It seems that after a conversation with the organisers it seems that these people really don’t give a damm, I will continue with this blog to keep people informed how the haymarket ( organisers of the clothes show )  treat people.

They have admitted that they got our brand totally wrong but never mind hey !!! thanks for your £6000+ and now i can go away, how short sighted are these people. We would never treat our customers like this……. It is a disgrace.

Would we ever do the show again???? well probably when Hell freezes over or the organisers of the clothes show are genuinely interested in Clothing instead of acting like pigs with their noses firmly in the trough. oink.. oink….

THE CLOTHES SHOW

The Clothes show live 2006. We are back from the Clothes Show live 2006 and ”What a blood sucking Clothes Show it was”.

The Show Organisers really pulled out all the stops to give you the customer a great day out And part you with you hard earnt money, There was a good coverage of companies that attended the show providing you ladies lots of choice of clothes from high street branded fashion, Clothing Designers such as ourselves right through to the cheaper fashion Clothes, this is before all the handbags, shoes, jewelery and make up.

We did think that the Clothes show was expensive for the customers Because of the price of the show tickets, catering etc. A couple would probably need at least £100 for the day before buying any clothes at the show and obviously your traveling expenses etc would add to the cost.

The clothing really was no cheaper than can be bought from the high street, and usually most of the styles of clothes there are last seasons stock, but obviously there are exceptions.

Most of the people I spoke to at the show had had enough after 3-4 hours as they usually run out of money or get tired of carrying bags around the show.

The fashions show were Ok, But really this isn’t for the men in your lives so don’t ask them for a lift, I have never seen so many Grumpy chaps, bless. Its the perfect place to start devorce proceedings lol.

The WORST thing at the Clothes show live, well it was for you girls has got to be the half mile queue’s for the loo’s girls were getting so desperate they jumped ship and started using the mens, God it was Really bad.

Watch out for the make up companies at the show these will hurl themselves at you with their liitle brushes and amend you work to promote their range. But this I thought was a bit unhygienic using the brushes again and again its a bit like using someone elses toothbrush.

A real heath & safety issue i would say…..

Looking at this show with after thought for the public You would be much better off having a trip to london and having a great day out there, many retailers are waking up to the fact that they can Give a better deal from their own establishments as it is so expensive to stand at the clothes show.

Verdict.

If you are loaded with cash, and want to walk around all day at the show loaded like a pack horse and have your own colostomy bag then you could have a different day out. Pack your comfy shoes its going to be a long day.

Remember that the date for the Clothes show is early December and that all the sales start January!!!!

We are Back after the Clothes Show and would be interested in hearing your complaints.

Our main issues were with the organiser who approached us via our website that clearly states we are manufacturers here in the uk and produce an exclusive line of clothing, But although the organisers of the show sold us a quote ” excellent stand” (watch out for Emma, who will say anything to get you to sign up) we were dissapointed to find we have been placed with cheap imported brands in the red zone, We would not have done the show had we been told the facts but the organisers are very much out for what money they can get, When you take into account that the customers pay £25 for a ticket to see the companies showing and they charge the companies £200 per square foot the organisers are being extremely greedy.

Both the consumer and the Retailer should have reason for complaint, But as an exhibitor I found that the sales team will say pretty much anthing to get you to sign on the dotted line and will carry out threats of court action if you change your mind, oh and they expect to sell the stand again.

My advise to the trade is that the clothes show benefits the organisers more than you, we can live without them but they cannot have a show without the trader.

Sales i’m told are dropping every year so why not do what the consumer are doing to you and wait until the sale or in our case they cannot have an event without the trader,

Suggestion;

Take the view that you will work the clothes show if its cheap enough, If the organisers want an early booking it has to be an even better deal.

I would suggest a fee of £20-£50.00 sq foot is more realistic as I do think £200 sq foot is excessive, and according to location would be the amount you are charged.

Remenber they are fleecing everyone including the shopper everyone should take a stand until the organisers of the clothes show get real and change their ways.

I do feel that we were given a very raw deal by the organisers and that we hope this does not happen again to another trader Thus this article.

Send your complaints And we will publish these for you. Ready for the Next clothes show live 2007.
