Project Catwalk Series 3

News Story Week 9 So it’s finally here the Project Catwalk semi-final 2008. Nine long weeks which started with thirteen contestants,

project catwalk series 3 week 9

has now whittled down to just five. Viv, Ross, Katy, Chesley and Jasper are all fighting for the three places in the final that would take them to London Fashion Week. The designers were taken to the Bluebird Cafe and were told that they would be designing an evening Dress for a mystery female celebrity to wear to a showbiz event. They were met celebrity stylist Jade Bien-Aimee Sutherland, who gave them tips on what her client likes and does not like. When the mystery finally arrived, this week’s twist became obvious as it was none other than Kelly Osborne! After a one-to-one with each designer and Kelly, the gang headed back to the workroom for what would be someone’s final challenge. Mentor and Judge Ben De Lisi gave his final and emotional critic to each of the designers. Bidding them to do him proud. Catwalk day arrived, along with it came the hardest decision the judges ever had to make. Unfortunately Katy’s outfit just didn’t cut the mustard as an Evening Gowns . However, Chelsey’s Oscar-style dress won the challenge and placed her into the final three. Viv did not win the challenge, but, Kelly liked her choice of colour and design of the Dress , [although some remarked was very similar to an earlier design won her place to London Fashion Week. That meant the judges had to decide on whose collection would they rather see at London Fashion Week: Ross or Jaspers. After a lengthy and heated debate, which saw the judges changing their minds several times it was Jasper’s overall designs throughout the series secured his place on the final catwalk in London’s Fashion Week.

Sadly for Ross, he headed off the catwalk having come so close; but not before Kelly gave him some words of wisdom that this show has the potential to open so many doors for someone of Ross’s calibre.

  CLINTON’S DIARY

WEEK ONE Day 1.
Met Kelly- Tres Cool. Met Zandra- uber cool! Getting on well with da boyz. Got the model I wanted from the start. She’s Jolie! Very Pleased! Tomorrow the s**t kicks off!

Day 2
First challenge: chopping each others clothes up. Not great. Debbie is painful so shouldn’t be here.
Day 4.
Catwalk Day. Really stressful. Mine wasn’t favourite or rubbished. Just SAFE! Tut! Tut!

Day 5.
First day off- not really relaxing with 13 people in the house!
WEEK 2

Day 1
2ND Challenge. Eveningwear. Working in Pairs, chose Keko over Debs and Angie.
Day 2
Keko bought hideous red and I don’t really like my design. Sticking to the one Nancy chose though- wish she had chosen my second one- far more exciting, really tough going. Pretty much making the Dress solo.

Ross and Tom are doing amazingly. Catwalk Day
What a farce. I was in lowest 3 and got slated by the judges. But the winning design didn’t even fit the model. She couldn’t walk. Go figure.

Day off. Feel really c**p today. Was really emotional in front of camera hated it. WEEK 4

Day 1
Designing in teams for Firetrap. Katy, Tom and I. I bought fabrics for team. Think I done good. I needed to be in the top group for once!
Day 2
Ben gave my design a proper gruelling a good thing though. The changes I made had been aesthetically pleasing. Had to sort out jumbled-up clean laundry on the hallway floor this evening. Degrading.

Day 3
Displayed our collections in Firetrap window today. Public choose, hectic but fun. My group’s was by far the youngest, sassiest window. Beautifully styled. Got a hot Clarke Kent look-a-like to vote for our group. He was possibly straight, but I was in love! Gave my first autograph, bloody hysterical.
Day 4
Catwalk day. I was sh***ing bricks, but I finally won a challenge. Felt soooo good, will be stocked in Firetrap next spring. My design was also the public’s favourite. Well chuffed. Really want to be in to the end. Really wanna win!

WEEK 5 Day 1
Henry Holland –back to the future. Met Henry-really nice guy. Just really down to earth! Went to Beyond Retro to shop for inspiration. Loads of fun, pretty open brief. Going body-conscious, loving it. Hope Ben will respond to that in my crit in the morning. Was nice to be down in my neck of the woods again- Shoreditch/home.

Day 2
Finished my crit with Ben at 6pm today, leaving only 3 hours work time. Quite ridiculous! He seemed pleased with my idea. Definitely wanna be in the top 3 this project. Only 6 hours work time tomorrow so will have to see. Going to a party with Henry and a fashion journalist tomorrow, wonder who that is. Fingers-crossed.
Day 3
Finished my garment on time. Pretty much pleased with it. Looking sharp. Met Henry and the fashion journalist. Hope my pitch went well. Other contestants have done a bit too much “debutante” work or quasi “Dior”. This brief had about future projections. The proof is in the pudding and tomorrow’s judges decision will be final all be it dubious.

Day 4
Catwalk Day. Drum-roll: In the bottom 3 again, no big surprise there. Viv was bigged up for cheating an “exquisite” black gown. Even though the high street has been full of 50’s celeb dresses for seasons. Jasper’s was judged second best. So over this farce! At least Tom got winning design and he deserved to. This is so obviously not a show about design talent. Instead its one of a few “stories” already mapped out. What a load of S**te!
WEEK 6

Day 1
Gharani Strok/Breast Cancer. We met two lovely ladies and it’s great to be involved with the charity. We had to make a dress out of 10 t-shirts.
Day 2
I nearly finished my dress. We had a “styling/gangster” party tonight. It was an absolute scream. It will make for good viewing I guess, though I’d hate my man to see it. I was swearing like a trooper.

Day 3
We did a photo shoot today for breast cancer campaign, I think it went really well. I love the pic, already dreading tomorrow.
Day 4
I was in the bottom three again, hideous injustice. Tom, Viv and I. Tom left. I was gutted.
 WEEK 7

Day 1
Design a dress for Sophie Ellis Baxter. Cool challenge. She’s gorgeous.
Day 2
Had crit today with Ben and Gerry Devoux, Gerry loved my idea, Ben has his doubts I’m sure, had a chat with Ben yesterday, all he could say was how I shouldn’t be here, Tom should. How I continually fail to deliver. Nice one, thanks! It’s got to a point where I really don’t care what Ben De Lisi thinks of my work. Pretty much are over this at the moment. I don’t rate his work in the slightest.

Day 3
My Dress is finished and looked gorgeous. I bet the judges will find fault with it and I don’t really care. Whatever happens its out of my hands. If I’m in the bottom few I’ll be going home.

Project Catwalk Series 3 Week 7

“Show Stopper Outfit”
Challenge 7 was set by pop-princess Sophie Ellis-Bextor, to design a show-stopping outfit for her UK tour.
The gang had a starting point with shoes as Sophie really adores shoes and so a trip to footwear designer Walter Seiger on Sloane Street was the first port of call. Once a designer had picked a pair of shoes for Sophie they could get to work on making her dress.
The designers’ evening was interrupted by their models who turned up on their doorstep for a bit of a party and a catwalk show of their own. The models finally got their revenge by dressing the designers and testing their ability to strut down a catwalk. Whilst everything was in good spirits there was slight tension in the air as Viv was clearly still bitter over losing her model to Chelsey.
As Jasper was the winner of last week’s challenge he had to choose whose model would go with who and Viv’s model went to his “team-Canada pal” Chelsey, Viv sulked and gave Chelsey daggers at the party.
On Catwalk day, it was Chelsey’s design that proved to be Sophie’s show stopping outfit. Jasper and Viv were safe while Ross, Katy and Clinton had to fight to remain in the game. As the judges gave their crits all three fought back. But in the end it was decided that Clinton should leave Project Catwalk, having rarely showing the designers that extra spark they’re looking for in Fashions’ next big thing.

Project Catwalk Angie Diary TOP SECRET - DO NOT ENTER!!! WEEK ONE DAY 1
Nervous, excited, scared- hate the morning of endless introductions as felt like being eaten alive!
Absolutely thrilled we are meeting Kelly Osborne. Felt completely in my element when it came to model choosing and love my girl Jo. King on the cake was when Zandra Rhodes walked in to discuss our challenge and talk design. She is one of my icons and I couldn’t clap hard enough at meeting her. Felt empowered this evening back at house. DAY 2
1st project catwalk today-horrible twist- we had to choose three items of clothing from a designated wardrobe. Everyone was shocked and gobsmacked and even upset at the prospect of losing some clothes. I was just shocked at everyone being shocked, as all I could think of was who’s wardrobe would I get to chose from- as in garment. I hope there are volumes of bright colours. Unfortunately not my style but shall make best of it. Worked hard in the studio.

DAY 3
Very, very busy in the studio. Ben came in to see each designer and mentor us. Mine was a “dog’s dinner”. I take this with a pinch of salt and respect his work in regards to his advice and comments. Charmed that I might not have enough time as the day was full of very conflicting moments between people and then there was also the “I don’t know what a pattern block is” saga. By tonight I’d got done my Dress  well enough to fit on beautiful model Jo in the morning.
DAY 4
Absolutely brilliant day! I couldn’t wait to fit my dress on Jo and she looked gorgeous! I finished my work at the studio what seemed like hours before others. Couldn’t believe how well I timed myself. Getting to the catwalk was nerve-wracking- I started to feel sick when it came to light that my model was almost the last to be ready with hair and make up.

Once on the catwalk, I thought, I would faint several times and had to tell myself to keep it together. Announcing that I was in the top four was just brilliant and I felt so incredibly proud. In a way glad Ross won as I am a terrible winner and a terrible loser. It’s made me pumped up to work even harder on the next challenge and beat Ross. Such a brilliant, proud day! DAY 5
Last night we let our hair down for a top alcohol fuelled evening in a bar and pub! Stayed up till 5am watching movies. Felt sick all day Sunday, but ok after seeing Transformers movie. Katy and I exchanged popcorn at the cinema and she lovingly left me some in my bed. Really pumped up for the next challenge-keep telling Ross I’m going to beat him this week!
WEEK 2

Day 1
Went to Soho Hotel today to meet Nancy, our celebrity client. Had 15 minutes to stretch design then 3 minutes to pitch. Could mainly think of Kiera Knightly as she walked by in a hall before we saw collection of Nancy’s clothes.
Day 2
Work day- my design did not get picked by Nancy so understandably upset inside. Katy chose me her assistant- was happy as we get on really, really well. I had to do the fabric shopping by the time it was over I was over not having my design picked. Very hard working day.
Day 3
Very busy work day. Worked exceptionally hard with Katy. Non-stop sewing all day. Just tired.
Day 4
Catwalk day. Absolutely mind blowing scary as I was in the lower 6. Everyone in top 4 last week were in top six except for me so very concerned. Knew I wasn’t going home as I worked very hard this week on someone else’s design so not my fault to be in the bottom six. I remained in my professional mode throughout whole horrible ordeal so really proud of myself. No way will I be in bottom again.

Day 5
Given phones as a treat. Feel absolutely sick as had a little too much to drink last night and threw up at 2am. Kelly came over to hang out which was very cool. Lying in park having some sun and quick time. Telling myself to be strong and not to worry about just scrapping through to this week. Will show judges the real me next week challenge.
Angie’s Diary WEEK 3 Day 1
3RD challenge today, woke up very nervous today. I had a cry, as I’m missing my kids terribly. Driven to a fancy Hotel, met Gary from Macintosh, told we were making a Mac then told I had to do menswear. Hated the project, hate menswear. Sh***y fabric selection. Want to cry more.

Day 2
Make day-hideous men’s Mac. Very, very homesick thinking what the hell, what the hell, worked hard, enjoyed the sewing as therapy. Had positive and negative moments - HATE MENSWEAR!!
Day 3
More twisting of the knife today had to finish stupid men’s Mac this morning then spent the afternoon pitching my garments to Gary and two independent players, I was picked as first to pitch. Nervous as hell! Hated, hated, hated trying to sell stupid a Mac. Debbie came back to café after her pitch excited and blabbing. I decided if the camera went onto me for a reaction to Debbie that instead of speaking, I would simply walk out of the café. Sh**y competition.
Day 4
Today I woke up seriously thinking I would be the one leaving the house after the catwalk. Fortunately, I have 9 lives and I’m still here! Everyone thought Debbie would stay simply for TV and were going to have a riot if I was gone. Love the guys, got so many hugs all round for still being here. Felt really loved.
Day 5
Fantastic day off! Laid in till 9, Ross made fry up for brunch then spent afternoon in Queensway shopping and bowling. Ross and guys making fantastic roast for dinner. Our house has a great air about it now that Debbie has gone!

Angie’s Diary WEEK 4  DAY 1
In the morning we were whisked away to Firetrap-cool branded Clothing . We were divided into 3 teams to make a collection for a music festival. I was appointed fabric buying and taken to an ugly, disastrous, fabric shop; which had nothing in it my team wanted. Complete joke. Came back with ridiculous cloth which put me into hysterics for minutes. Jasper praised me, while poor Fionnuala held her head in their hands for a while. Everyone spent the evening laughing at my selection. Hated the fabric buying job. Hideous shop.
DAY 2
More studio day- Ben came in and said our fabrics were childlike so the meeting started very negative-all to do with fabric, but it did end on a positive note. Ben loved our shapes and all our pieces could interact well. I had a tiny cry in the toilets which cameras didn’t see. Felt very low most of the day as I really felt I had let my team down. Fionnuala bought me back to reality and was a fantastic team leader. Finished everything at studio not knowing what top I was going to make! I looked for the first time at the house and the guys made a lovely red onion risotto and baked lemon fresh for dinner. Yummy.
DAY 3
Early start this morning- 7.30am at the studio for 3 hours to finish making group ranges. Ben came in to see us with another twist as per usual. We had to paint a backdrop canvas to put in Firetrap’s window at Covent Garden with our models. I considered this a massive sight more, was not on same wave length as my team and struggled to enjoy anything about making a backdrop. Spent the afternoon at Covent Garden having to grab votes from the public with our models as our mannequins! Fantastic fun, absolute high and I didn’t want to leave Project Catwalk!
