Long distance Coaches are being robbed by thieves’ sneaking dwarfs in to the luggage holds in sports bags.

Once inside, they slip out from their hiding places to rifle through the belongings of unsuspecting travellers.

Then they take their loot back to their hiding place and wait to be collected by another gang member when the coach reaches its destination, reports The Sun.

They have stolen thousands of pounds in cash, gems and other valuables in recent months.

Swebus, which ferries thousands of Brits across Sweden, has been among coach firms targeted.

A spokesman said: “We have had reports about several thefts by dwarves on the stretch between Vasteras and Stockholm.

“We’re thinking of installing video cameras.”

A Stockholm Police spokesman said: “We are looking at our records to identify criminals of limited stature.”

Father cleared of murder after suicide act with his two childrenin Greece.

A father who threw his six-year-old son to his death from a hotel balcony in Greece has been cleared of murder.

John Hogan, 33, from Bristol, hurled son Liam from the fourth floor then jumped himself with his two-year-old daughter Mia in a suicidal act described as “selfish love” by his ex-wife Natasha.

Liam died of head injuries but Hogan and Mia survived with broken limbs in the incident during their holiday on the island of Crete.

A court on the island cleared him of murder and ruled he should be placed in a psychiatric unit.

President Paraskeri Kiraleou, the senior judge at the trial, said: “His responsibility was diminished. He was incapable of murdering his son and he needs to be in a psychiatric unit for therapy.”

Hogan said nothing as he was led from court by two police officers.

As he left the building, he shot a quick glance at his mother Josephine who looked tearful.

Hogan’s ex-wife Natasha condemned the verdict, saying that her son had “lost his young life for nothing”.

Hogan’s lawyer Dimitris Xiritakis told reporters: “It is the right verdict. John Hogan is very happy with the verdict.”

Hogan will continue to receive treatment in Greece while the British and Greek authorities dicuss his long-term care

Heath Ledger Found Dead

The Brokeback Mountain star Heath Ledger aged 28, was found dead in his Soho New York apartment, with sleeping pills close to his naked body.

The Australian was found around 3.30pm by his housekeeper.

The star had been known to suffer from insomnia as a result from the stress of his work, Ledger had just finished filming on Warner Brothers up and coming summer blockbuster Batman The Dark Knight as Batman’s arch enemy The Joker. This role would have launched his career to super stardom.

Ledgers death has stunned family, friends, fans and actors in the community that were closest to him, his father Kim says it was an accidentally death, his ex partner and mother to his child Matilda aged 2 years is absolutely devastated.

John Travolta said he was his favourite actor and do not know who to compare his talent to others, it is a great loss.

“The entertainment community has lost an enormous talent. Heath was a brilliant actor and an exceptional person. Our hearts go out to his family and friends,” they said in a statement.
Police sources told US media prescription pills were found in the apartment and said signs pointed to either an accidental overdose or suicide.

In Australia, Ledger’s parents and younger sister described his death as an “accidental passing,” and asked to be left to grieve in private.

“We, Heath’s family, can confirm the very tragic, untimely and accidental passing of our dearly loved son, brother and doting father of Matilda,” said Ledger’s father Kim as he stood outside the family home in Perth.

He described his son as a “down-to-earth, generous, kind-hearted, life-loving, unselfish individual who was extremely inspirational to many.”

Australia’s Prime Minister Kevin Rudd said it was “tragic that we have lost one of our nation’s finest actors in the prime of his life.”

“Heath Ledger’s diverse and challenging roles will be remembered as some of the great performances by an Australian actor,” he said in a statement.

Members of the Australian film industry, which nurtured Ledger from his early days in television soaps until his recent performances in gritty dramas, were coming to terms with the news that the talented actor had been found dead.

Neil Armfield, who directed Ledger in the 2006 Australian film “Candy” about a romance between two drug addicts, described Ledger as a powerful actor.

“He was always a complex and complicated man to work with but… just a master… just so passionately concerned to get it right,” he told the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC).
Film critic Margaret Pomeranz said the death of the actor, who previously dated Hollywood stars Heather Graham and fellow Australian Naomi Watts but had recently separated from actor partner Michelle Williams, was shocking.

“I am so upset, I just can’t tell you,” she told ABC radio.

“I mean he is such a talented boy and really, I think a beautiful soul.

“I think to choose the roles he’s chosen showed just such intelligence.”

Producer Emile Sherman, who got to know Ledger during the filming of “Candy”, said the young man’s death was a “huge loss on a personal level for someone of his age to die — for his family and his daughter Matilda.”

But it was also a sad day for the film industry here and overseas.

“We are missing out on the rest of his career which no doubt would have been magnificent,” he told AFP.
Chairman of the Australian Film Critics’ Association Peter Krausz described Ledger as a self-effacing actor who was “never there to talk about winning awards or being a major actor, or look at me I’m famous.”
“He never played the Hollywood game,” he said.

His words were echoed by Australian film critic David Stratton.

“The great thing about Heath Ledger was that he was his own man,” he told Sky News. “He was Heath Ledger and he was very

ba plane crash at heathrow

A British Airways Boeing 777 plane has crash landed at Heathrow Airport, hitting the ground several hundred yards short of the runway and narrowly missing a busy road.

More than 150 people were forced to dive off the Boeing 777 down inflatable chutes and onto the tarmac as emergency services rushed to the scene.

BA flight 38 had been landing in London after flying from Beijing.

Pictures of the crashed plane show the aircraft’s mangled undercarriage - as if it had slid across the ground.

Serious damage is visible to the right engine and to both wings and the plane is surrounded by fire engines and a sea of firefighting foam.

Scotland Yard said: “There is nothing to suggest at this stage that the incident is in any way terror-related.”

Sky correspondent David Bowden, who is at Heathrow, said: “It looks as though… if something did go very wrong with this plane, it must have happened at the very last minute.

“No emergency was declared. There simply wasn’t enough time.”

Bowden added: “Air traffic control didn’t know this was happening until it was too late.”

Incredibly, only six passengers on the crashed plane have needed hospital treatment for minor injuries, London Ambulance Service said.

After a temporary halt to flights, air traffic controllers now say planes are taking off and landing on the airport’s northern runway.

There are, however, many delays, with some planes diverted to other London airports.

The Prime Minister’s flight to China was among those stuck on the runway after the drama.

On board, is Sky’s political editor Adam Boulton, who said Mr Brown remained calm and joked: “Well you have got your story already then.”

Sky producer Jonathan Levy said security at Heathrow was already higher than normal, both because of Gordon Brown’s flight and because the Qatari royal family were due to pass through the airport.

Mr Brown’s flight has now taken off safely.
