For the past few weeks at work we’ve had foxes, rabbits and all sorts of creatures coming to visit…

This morning my nanny rings and asks me what shopping i need (she always gets me odds and ends on a thursday and goes to my house to see Sandra) so i order salad and a chicken for tea as imgoing my fitness test at 6… sounds ok, the normal thing to order right…

Well i pulled into work and guess what sits there on the steps….. lol

A chicken !! hehehe

Hes so friendly but doesnt want to go home….. (and keeps pecking my nails) i thought it was the husband that got henpecked ..hehe

Weve fed it broad beans and ran up the road to buy it corn and now hes following me about everywhere ! bless it even tried to get in the toilet with me (you hear about 2 birds in loos together what they get up to)mmmmmmm

I went outside with a cuppa and the silly thing tries to sit on my lap… what is going on here, am i running a farm…….. lol

The postman came with the mail and instead of a wiggle today, in behind him walks the chicken into my office.. he obviously wants a job badly..lol

Anyway ive asked the chickens permission to use the photos and hes happy, so will now take over the modelling job for me, its definately skinnier than me and says it can do the job standing on one leg….lol (see photo)

It makes me think about all this diet lark, see how scrawny a bird can look if she doesnt look after herself properly….hehe

Anyway please let me introduce Vinny.. our new j-lou model and Jos new best friend ..

Theres no way i can go home tonight now and eat chicken salad…………

sexy bird at the office

So upset as i was, i just thought id try calling him (not that i expected a chicken to answer to the name Vinny)

But he did !!! (no … hes a blonde too jokes here …..please)

And he comes running round the corner head proudly in the air………..and has brought his friend !! see he didnt do a runner, he likes me and just went to tell his friend about the friendly blonde thats stupid enough to sit there and feed him her dinner !

naomi campbell community service

British supermodel Naomi Campbell  well known for modelling Women’s Fashion will reportedly have to clean office floors in New York as part of her punishment for assaulting her maid with a mobile phone.

Campbell, 36, pleaded guilty last year in Manhattan Criminal Court to assaulting Ana Scolavino. She was fined $250 (£125) and ordered to complete five days of community service. The community service is to be announced by a judge this week, but reports in New York say the floor-cleaning has already been decided. The New York Daily News reports that Campbell will sweep a city facility during the five days, just as fellow celebrity Boy George did on the streets of Manhattan last year following his conviction for wasting police time. Campbell has apologised for attacking her maid - and revealed she was undergoing therapy for her temper.

Model Safety And Advise

The following paragraphs have been compiled by the Amber Models team together with models and fellow promoters / photographers that share a genuine passion and concern about model safety and protection. However, the ultimate way to protect yourself from bogus organisations is prevention. Replacing starry eyes with good old fashioned common sense and gut feeling is essential.

It’s highly recommended that anyone that’s thinking of entering the modelling arena be it fashion or glamour carefully reads and digests these essential tips. We have taken time and energy to compile to the best of our knowledge and experience a brief guideline that may help you - If you’re not even going to bother reading these notes before you send in an application form at Amber Models or indeed any other serious promotional establishment, will indicate sheer laziness and lack of self respect already.

There are basically two major routes that models take nowadays for promotion: either they find management / reputable agency or they push themselves via the internet. The main difference in becoming an agency model and an independent model is that an agency model has chosen an ‘agent’ who finds and assigns them modelling work and an independent model represents and seeks work for themselves. The golden rule is to stay safe no matter how you go about things and try and avoid the scams.
It works both ways though; If you are taken on by someone who is willing to direct and promote you never take them for granted. Treat a genuine offer of help like gold dust. Opportunity’s knock is a light one in the entertainment’s industry and it may only come round once.

I’ve always said that its as crucial to watch your conduct behind the scenes as it is in front of the Camera. Remember, just like the music industry success doesn’t come over night. It sometimes takes years of practice and experiences so always show appreciation to people that are giving you the break. Especially if you’re taken on by merit alone and not by how much you have to pay a so called agency.

You cant buy star status so don’t be fooled by people offering you the earth in exchange for large amounts of cash. Avoid high-pressure sales tactics. If you have potential for a model today, you’ll have potential a week from now. There’s no need to sign anything immediately. Ask yourself, ‘why me?’ Don’t let your emotions — and the company’s compliments — take control. Think carefully and critically about how you were approached: if it was in a crowded street, think how many others also may have been approached.

Scouting scams are usually at the root of modelling scams - The concept is very basic. People are told they have the look, they could be models, they are ‘model material’ The goal is to get the person to sign up for any number of things which will cost hundreds or thousands of pounds. For example, over half the models that we are dealing with at the moment have had the unfortunate experience of attending photo shoots under false pretences: They received phone calls out of the blue offering them free photographic shoots without even seeing them first. The unsuspecting model would pay for travelling expenses to a plush studio where they would be pampered and force fed delusions of grandeur. Ok the photographs weren’t half bad but at £50 each! To put the cherry on the top in one case a girl paid £750 to obtain copyright of the images. One difference between a true scout and a bogus scout is sincerity. But how do you know if a scout is sincere? One test is to find out if the scout is paid by commission. Not commission on the number of people they sign up, but commission on the work the model receives through the agency.

Before you approach casting agents and promotional companies to get your first modelling job, you’ll need to pull together a portfolio to show potential clients a variety of looks, but restrain from spending a small fortune to achieve this. Shop around to find the right photographer for you and someone that you feel at ease with. Check photographers out first, ask to see their work and references from other models he may have worked with. You won’t win an oscar or get more work for having lots of pictures in your portfolio. It is important to have a good selection of pictures that make you look fabulous and sell your personality and ability to do the type of modelling that you are trying to get work from. You need to be extremely critical of your images. Use only the best ones. Never use more than one shot of the same outfit or two pictures that are obviously taken at the same time and location - Remember, first impressions count in this game ‘You only get one chance to make a good first impression’ - There is no business where that is more true than modelling. Every agency or client that you contact - your modelling portfolio will always enter the door before you.

Any one under the age of 18 needs to have parental / Guardian consent in any sort of modelling or commercial photography and publication. This is under the law of the UK and many states and countries throughout the World: All that you do, needs parent / Guardian approval. Be weary of photographers / promoters telling you otherwise. Even if you’re 18 and you have an appointment concerning a first time job or meeting please take someone with you - that’s the danger of freelance models starting out on their own: at least with a reputable agent situations are checked out first and often it’s with companies they have been working with for years. Well, if they are doing their job properly that is.

If you are in a valued position of being looked after by a good outfit then keep the enthusiasm and zest that put you there in the first place. No one is unassailable; you can be out the door faster than you came in. This may sound a little harsh but not if you take into account all the previously mentioned pitfalls out there. Here are some obvious pointers: Always look clean and tidy, It’s a must. Remember producers notice uncleanness and lack of motivation. At least be enthusiastic and show interest in the Industry you are trying to enter. There’s a prominent dividing line between being keen or becoming a pest, It’s good to keep in touch with a promoter for advice and chat but avoid ringing up every two minutes asking why a job hasn’t come up or being vindictive to fellow models. A manager’s life is hard enough in this competitive game and the chances are he’s giving everything 100% anyway and needs valuable time to carry on with the job.

Greet Producer / Photographer with firm and genuine handshake in the process of doing so always keep full professional eye contact, don’t look at the floor or through a person. This will gain you points.

During a job / shoot (even if nervous) always feel free to ask about anything you’re not sure about. Politely ask who you are working with to run through instructions and what is needed. When ever receiving remarks back, good or bad, always respond nicely and with gratitude. After all this person is giving you the golden opportunity to sell yourself.

After completing any job thank the producer / photographer even if you don’t get through the casting a producer will always remember professional behaviour and a happy face. Like any other Industry word gets around. Remember producers speak with each other.
Modelling is a form of acting, practice with a partner / friend or mirror even. Strike different poses, situations and emotions ie learn to look happy, tearful, stressed, sexy, sad and smooth. Often you don’t know until the day what will be required of you.

It’s important to eat healthy ie plenty fruit and veg and at least 6 pints of water a day. Everybody has some sort of busy life ie work, children etc, but try doing at least thirty minutes of cardio like walking briskly, jogging, swimming or skipping. Light weights in the gym are a great idea to tone your muscles and keep you looking fit and firm. All these things will improve your overall look including, skin, eyes and hair. A treat is ok sometimes in a diet but keep this limited as a balanced diet is the healthiest form of living.Never burn the candle at both ends! We all want to party like Rock Stars at times but during regular castings and work its hard to do this. Knock late nights and heavy consumption of alcohol on the head.

Modelling Agency Scams

Scams, Rip Offs and Bad Business

http://www.modelingadvice.com/Home.html

There is a whole industry that has developed to take advantage of those who would like to become models. They are far removed from the world of actual professional modelling. This modelling scam and rip-off industry makes its money by alluding to or promising great careers in modelling, but first you have to pay them up front. Of course your modelling career never comes about and your money is long gone. These enterprises prey upon your hopes and dreams of becoming a star and they are betting on your lack of knowledge about how the modelling industry really works. This leach industry seems to be getting bigger everyday.
These enterprises fall into three categories: the scam, the rip-off, and those that just run bad businesses. All will take your money and give little or nothing in return.
The scam operation conducts fraudulent and illegal activities. This type of enterprise has no intention of delivering on what it promises. They make big promises and guarantees and usually ask for a substantial sum of money up front, and then they vanish in the night.
The rip-off is a big category, and it’s not illegal. Companies operating rip-off schemes make vague promises or they tout one or two models (out of thousands whose money they’ve taken) that actually succeeded in a career. They will work with anyone who pays money up front, and they tell everyone they have some type of talent, whether or not they really do. The rip-off companies can include modelling agencies that charge up front for signing fees and photo shoots, or that requires you take their class before they will work with you. Also in this category are some of the modelling conventions, searches, and competitions. Many virtual modelling sites are springing up all over the web. New rip-off enterprises are starting up every day.
The bad business category includes enterprises that are trying to conduct a legitimate business, but just don’t know what they are doing. They do not have the essential knowledge of the industry they need or they may be poorly located. These businesses might include someone who sets up a modelling agency in a too-small market area, or a photographer offering to shoot professional modelling portfolios but does not have the skill level to carry it off, or it might be a modelling school that should really be called a finishing school (offering classes in image enhancement, or using outdated teaching materials). I think these businesses mean well but they still cost money for classes or photos that are ultimately useless.
If your goal is to become a professional model, remember that all of the scams, rip-offs, and bad businesses that promise to take you to that goal are, in fact, barriers to it. Watch for the warning signs
Warning Signs Warning signs of a scam, or a less than legitimate, or a poorly run agency. If you find any of these warning signs, it does not necessarily mean the business is a scam operation but be sure to ask a lot of questions, and be sure the business gives good answers. Always check references! New York City is the exception to many of these warning signs.
1) Newspaper classified ads or display ads looking for any kind of model or talent (other than nude glamour modelling, i.e. models for the adult entertainment industry). Reputable modelling agencies receive plenty of would-be model inquiries so they don’t need to advertise for models. If they are short of talent they will send their scouts out to public places to look for potential talent.
2) Pictures of famous New York supermodels on the walls of their offices, or these models’ comp cards on a wall rack. Top New York fashion models do not need a modeling agency in small town USA.
3) Up-front fees. These could be signing fees, new account fees, evaluation fees, etc. If an agency has to charge money at the front end it means that there is not enough money at the back end. It also means that the agency probably does not have enough modeling work to be able to survive on commissions, and therefore, not enough work for a model to survive on either.
4) “We are interested in you but you need to test shoot with our photographer and it’s going to cost you.” Legitimate agencies will provide you with a list of photographers that you may go to on your own. Many will have a place by the front door for photographers’ business cards that you can take on your way out. You should be free to go to any photographer you choose. If the agency tells you that you must use their photographer, watch out. A twist on this theme is when the agency provides the photo session at no charge, then charges you a high fee (example, $700) for a “professional” makeup artist. You will need photos at some point but you should be free to shop around and find your own photographer and makeup artist.
5) “We are interested in you but you need to go through our classes first and it is going to cost you.” Again money at the front end means not enough modelling work at the back end. A combination school/modelling agency has a conflict of interest. For example, SAG (Screen Actors Guild) member agencies cannot offer both.
6) “We guarantee you work.” Modelling agencies are not employers. They represent you and try to get work for you. Most of the time they don’t know for sure what type of job will come in or what ‘look’ may be needed,
thus there is no way a legitimate agency can guarantee you work. The best they can do is to give you an idea of their track record on placements. But remember that past performance is no guarantee of future performance.
7) “As it says in our ad in the local newspaper we guarantee you work, just like the famous models on our walls, just as soon as you go through our modelling classes, shoot with our photographer, and pay our agency fees.” RUN; do not walk, to the nearest exit.
