REDESIGNING NANCY

The next challenge involved a celebrity who often lands herself on to the worst dressed pages. The task was to design an evening gown to get her onto the BEST-dressed list.

The designers had no more than 15 minutes to come up with a design and pitch it to this week’s mystery celebrity Nancy Dell’Olio. Nancy then revealed the week’s twist; she will only chose SIX of the best designers out of the twelve pitched!

The challenge presents a big leap for Jules who was designing clothes for a supermarket and is now pitching a glamorous dress to Nancy. Jasper on the other believed he had captured the many sides to Nancy with his design of 1950s heavily influenced by Hollywood glamour.

Mentor Ben De Lisi revealed the six designers Nancy chose: Viv with assistant Finnoula, Katy with assistant Angie, Clinton with assistant Keko, Jules with assistant Debonair, Japser with assistant Chelsey and finally Ross was assisted by Tom. But, Aussie Angie was very upset, shocked, tearful and wanted to walk out as she was disappointed her design wasn’t chosen.

The task and the challenge of working in pairs threw up some unusual pitfalls for some of the designers, Debonair was entrusted in the beading of Jules’ design, quickly putting last week’s cutting patterns nightmare behind her. But with his budget of £250 Keko HAD to get the right shade of red that Clinton wanted; Keko was dispatched to a fabric shop with strict instructions to get the right reds and if the exact shade of red wasn’t available then get black. It wasn’t available but Keko stuck with RED! The wrong red, a decision that left Clinton seeing red!

The guys let their hair down after a hard day’s work and threw a pyjama party with surprise gate-crashers PC host Kelly Osborne and joined last year’s contestants Monika and Giles, whom arrived with some words of wisdom for the designers.

Back in the studio for the last make day, with nerves running high, certain designers were quick to dismiss the work of their fellow contestants. Angie had her claws out and tore into Jasper and Chelsey’s dress. For despite their best efforts their dress was extremely tight, but a little thing like their model not being able to walk or breath wasn’t going to stop them. However, that led to some interesting inventive attempts at a solution on their part including some cling film and black electrical tape. Poor girl.

However, Catwalk day was to prove Angie wrong and despite their models inability to walk, Nancy loved Jasper’s design. Asking Jasper to re-create it for her to wear at a red-carpet event and then auction it off to charity.

Judge Paula’s advice to Keko was “Next time you go into the fabric shop, step away from the red!” While Jules designed a simple outfit, but as the judges pointed out simple is the hardest thing to do and as a result both Keko and Jules were asked to leave Project Catwalk.
That’s all from this week’s show. Keep coming back for the latest news and gossip from your favourite fashion show!
As James’ departure sinks in this week – the remaining designers thoughts turn to their survival, this truly is a competition! The existing fireworks between Angie and Debbie Debonair begin to calm down, and an uneasy truce develops between the girls, Debonair tries to make conversation while Angie puts up a wall.
