Family and Friendship

Where do i start? My Family are the most important thing in my life and always will be..

My partner is a brilliant man and from day one has always inspired me to be the best i can be. He met me when lets just say, i was feeling at my worst, out of confidence and a year out of a very abusive relationship where i was a punchbag and emotional dart board for a man, we all learn and i learnt the hard way that valuing yourself first plays an important part of life.

I wrote an article years ago about my life how it was then, looking back now i don’t recognise the girl i once was, I’m stronger and more confident than i ever thought possible so looking back I’m proud that i found the strength to get out of it.

I have been with my current partner 16 years now and can honesty say the last 16 years have been the best ever, hes gentle and very caring yet still very exciting to be with, my guy has such a passion for life its infectious. He has a way of turning any ordinary day into a special one, I’m very lucky that the guy who knocked on my door all those years ago saw what was inside me and didn’t judge on how i looked on the outside, I was a shell….

I’m one of 4 girls so grew up in a hormone overdosed house, my mum has since moved to a little island called Tobago so i do miss her, although knowing she is happy makes her not being here with her grandkids worthwhile, shes living proof that you’re never too late to change your life’s direction if you are not happy, Moving from Norwich to the caribbean was a spur of the minute thing that she never looked back on.

My children are amazing and complete my life, they are noisy and at times demanding but very down to earth and really loving kids, I always said that someone ‘up there’ knew i had a good sense of humour so gave me triplets, it is true ! it was so hard when they are babies i had 4 under 2 at one point and was trying to work in between feeding and sleepless nights, but i wanted to try and keep myself sane , it wasn’t easy to juggle work and family but it was never dull that i can say..lol

I gave birth to the triplets at 26 weeks gestation and were told they only had a 10% chance of survival. Each of my kids had to fight for their lives with heart surgery needed on my daughter, a massive brain hemorrhage that came overnight on one of the boys with his brother constantly forgetting to breathe and gastric reflux. it makes you a stronger person that’s for sure, you had to stay strong for them.

Family life for me means the kids all helping out with whats needed, mum usually running around like a mad woman while they are at school but we are all very happy, dads also a brilliant cook so helps out alot and does most of the cooking here.

Friendship is very important to life, if i trust and care about people then ill go without for them, i hit a really hard time last year and realised then that the people I hoped I could count on turned out to be the ones I couldn’t, its one of life’s lessons, no one knows whats round that corner and having a friend pop round to say ‘Hi ‘ to brighten up your day does make a huge difference.

I make friends easily and love being around people, salsa and horse riding has brought so many smiles and lovely people into my life.  Its not about where you are, its all about who you are with, I have some great people around me that I’m lucky enough to count as my friends…
